Recycling wind turbines in France

The development of wind power has played a crucial role in the transition to renewable energy sources. Even today, however, the environmental impact of wind turbines, particularly their blades, is still a subject of debate, particularly with regard to the use of materials and their recycling. In France, by 2025, the cumulative output of wind turbines at the end of their service life is expected to be 200 MW per year, rising to 1 GW by 2028.

At this conference, our speakers (see below) will address the following issues:

  • What are the stakes, the legal framework and the situation in France for wind turbine recycling?
  • What is the panorama of the recycling industry and who are the main players?
  • What are the main outlets for recycled materials? How can we measure the efficiency and sustainability of recycling processes?
  • What is the viewpoint of wind farm developers and operators?
  • What are the technical and technological challenges facing the industry?

The speakers will be:

Laurie Gilbert

A graduate in renewable energy technologies, Laurie Gilbert has worked for EDF Renouvelables and Q ENERGY France. She is currently in charge of repowering business development and partnerships, and leads France Renouvelables' repowering working group.

Rachel Ruamps

Rachel Ruamps is a permanent member of France Renouvelables and heads up the Economy, Taxation and PPA Commission. She works on industrial issues in the wind and photovoltaic sectors. Previously, she worked as a diplomat for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs for ten years.

Romain Agogué Engineer and PhD in mechanical engineering, Romain Agogué worked at ONERA and Storopack before joining IPC in 2019. He currently leads the composites for the circular economy program and contributes to R&D and standardization projects on composites. He is also involved in setting up a composites recycling chain in France.

Ronan Guermeur

Ronan Guermeur holds a DUT in mechanical engineering and is a graduate of a business school. He began his career in aviation in Tunisia, before heading up rail dismantling at Suez. Since 2020, he has been in charge of the wind power business in France.

Our speakers will also answer any questions you may have.

The panel will be moderated by Jean-Antoine Bord from Centrale Énergies.

When? Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Where? The webinar will take place on ZOOM.

Participation : The event is free of charge, although free participation is suggested (Centrale Énergies, HEC Transition and Sciences-Po Énergie, Infrastructure et Mobilités are volunteer associations, but still have some expenses).
