The Equal Opportunity Center at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris is organizing a "Women and Science" day on Saturday March 8, to mark International Women's Rights Day.
The event is aimed at 250 middle and high school girls supported by IP Paris schools as part of partnerships with the French Ministry of Education, in particular the national "cordées de la réussite" equal opportunity scheme.
The aim is to inform and encourage girls to opt for scientific careers and engineering schools, through meetings with female students and professionals from the IP Paris network of schools.
This initiative is organized in collaboration with the association Les Entretiens de l'Excellence.
The event will take place in two stages:
- Morning at École polytechnique (Palaiseau): meetings between male and female students from IP Paris schools
- Après-midi at ENSAE Paris (Palaiseau): meetings between students and professionals from the network of IP Paris schools Mobilization of alumni.
We're looking for alumni from the Schools of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris to take part in an after-afternoon dedicated to exchanges between professionals and schoolgirls. The aim is to share information about your career path, your profession, your sector of activity, and to answer any questions the students may have.
Discussions take place in rooms, in small groups, around the themes of science-related sectors and professions (see list at end of e-mail). Each student attends 2 workshops, selected in advance according to her aptitudes and interests. During the workshops, several professionals from the relevant sector are brought together to shed light on the diversity of careers that exist in this field.
On the ENSAE Paris campus - 5 avenue Le Chatelier, 91120 Palaiseau :
- 13:45-14:00: welcome of students and speakers
- 2:00-2:30 pm: Welcoming remarks and opening plenary of the afternoon session
- 14:45-16:00: first session of exchanges between students and professionals
- 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm: Second session of exchanges between students and professionals
