On June 04, an exciting webinar was organized in partnership with Télécom Paris Executive Education, bringing together experts, industrialists and public players to discuss the major challenges facing the fast-changing space industry.

This event provided an opportunity to discuss the rapid transformations taking place in the sector, notably with the rise of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations, which are revolutionizing the satellite telecommunications landscape. Faced with a dynamic driven by the United States, Europe faces a twofold challenge: preserving its technological sovereignty and strengthening its strategic competitiveness.

• Jean-Baptiste Thépaut, Principal at Novaspace, opened the session with an overview of the satellite market and the impact of new technologies on the space telecoms ecosystem.

• Daniele Finocchiaro, Head of R&D & Technology roadmap at Eutelsat, presented OneWeb, the only broadband constellation competing with Starlink, as well as the work of the SpaceRise consortium developing the European IRIS2 constellation.

• Stéphane Anjuere, 5G Venture lead at Thales Alenia Space, detailed the "Non-Terrestrial Network" (NTN) version of the 5G standard, adopted for IRIS2, and the prospects for convergence of terrestrial and satellite networks.

• Christophe Digne, Deputy Director General of the Agence Nationale des Fréquences, explained the global regulation of frequencies, a key element in new satellite solutions.

• Jean-Pierre Diris, Interministerial Coordinator for IRIS², concluded by highlighting the opportunities and challenges of the European IRIS² program.
